Trailer maker keeps good service in tow

(Daily Express - 5th September 2005)
IF THERE were gold medals for top customer service, Rose Trailers would surely be waving from the winner's podium.
Dave Currie highly recommends the small enterprise, in Powys, Wales, after owner Derek Rose saved Dave £25 postage and hand-delivered the part he was seeking. "I bought a second-hand trailer with a damaged wing and called the manufacturer about a new one," explains Dave, from Southampton. "Mr Rose asked me where I live and said he would be in the area next day. We met on the M27 just minutes from my home and he handed over the part. Terrific service."
Derek says: "It only takes a little extra effort, but it makes all the difference to our clIents.'
From David Thorn

I am writing to advise how pleased I am with the purchase of my Freighter 900 trailer.
I can honestly say that without your Company, I would not have been able to start up this Business venture, which has really taken off. After 5 weeks trading, I have over 70 Customers.
The equipment is normally fitted into a High Cube LWB Ford Transit and as I was out of work at the time of starting up this franchise, I was unable to get the finance to buy a Transit.
This is when I started looking at the possibility of buying a trailer but the only Company I was aware of was Ivor Williams.
However, their most suitable trailer had an unladen weight of 900 kgs and with the equipment installed this would make the trailer weight approx 1200 kgs.
Unfortunately this would be in excess of the tow weight of my car, a Rover 400 turbo Diesel, which could only pull 1000 kgs.
As we couldn't afford a new car, this nearly put paid to our chances of starting up the business, until I came across your Company's website.
I was amazed that your most suitable trailer had an unladen weight of only 500 kgs and fully laden and kitted out the trailer would weigh approx 800 kgs, well within the tow weight of my car and also that it was a lot cheaper.
Having never towed before, I was a bit apprehensive about this, but I have found it really easy to adapt. The trailer responds well and my reversing ability is steadily improving, mainly out of neccessity!!!!
I have found, however that the Rover 400 is not a suitable car for day to day towing and as it needed a lot of work doing to it following it's recent MOT and the fuel consumption had dropped by about 10 mpg, I found it was more economical to trade it in for an old Volvo 740, for which I paid £500.00.
This makes the job of towing even easier and being a longer a heavier car also makes reversing much easier.
The people who fit out the vehicles and the Franchise holders, were also impressed with the trailer and think that it provides a cheap option for people who want to start out or are considering expanding to a second van.
Internally although the trailer is slightly narrower than a Transit, there is plenty of space to work with the dog inside and there is no feeling of crampness.
The only downside I can think of is that there is no lighting in the trailer, when the trailer is unplugged from the mains. My only suggestion is that battery powered lighting could be installed as an option.
(Also if the Business was to fail then I could always use the trailer to carry goods and work for a parcels company!!!!)
Once again many thanks for supplying this fine trailer.
Regards
David Thorn
