Frequently Asked Questions
How do I order one of these box trailers?
Telephone or email us so that we can discuss your options and let you have a quotation for the specification you require.

Do you deliver?
No not usually, trailers are picked up direct from our manufacturing unit.

Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept debit and credit cards.

Can I have a different colour?
We manufacture box trailers in white only.  However, many customers have successfully had them
sprayed to match their vehicles.

What is the difference between a braked trailer and an unbraked trailer?
Braked trailers are fitted with an overrun system which is activated by the inertia of the towing
vehicle braking and incorporates auto reverse.  Unbraked trailers are not fitted with any form of
brakes.

How do I know whether I need a braked or an unbraked trailer?
Many customers only require a light weight capacity but unbraked trailers are restricted to 750kg
GVW.  However the kerbside weight of your towing vehicle should be at least twice this figure.
If your vehicle kerbside weight is less, then we can reduce the trailer weight capacity but this will
reduce the payload capacity as well.
If your payload requirement is greater, then you must have a braked trailer.  Your vehicle
manufacturer will specify the maximum trailer GVW you can tow and this figure can be found in the
handbook.

What is the difference between GVW (gross vehicle weight) and payload?
Gross Vehicle Weight is the combined weight of the trailer and the payload it can carry.  Payload
is the weight the trailer is designed to carry i.e. GVW less unladen weight of trailer = payload.

Do you fit towbars?
No, you will need to have a towbar and lighting socket fitted prior to collecting the trailer.  A single
7pin socket is all that is require for a trailer.

Is there anything else I need?
You will need to bring a number plate - the usual long rectangular type.  We are happy to fit it on
the trailer for you.  We prefer double sided adhesive pads if you are able to bring these.

I can't find a trailer that has quite the dimensions I require.  Can the sizes be altered?
The Freighter 600 and Freighter 700 box trailers are one piece bodies so altering the size is not an option. However, there is some room for adjustment with regard to height.

I'd like a basic Freighter 600 but want some of the options that are available on the deluxe model,
for example, the larger wheels.  Is that possible?
Yes, we can quote you for a basic Freighter 600 box trailer with any extra options you require.

Do I need to take a special driving test to tow a trailer?

Where do I get insurance for the trailer? I'm having difficulty, particularly as we are a club/charity and a variety of different vehicles will be towing it.
